LYNCHBURG (WSLS) - Liberty University is remembering a student who was killed on the same tracks another student was killed on three years ago. <\/p>\n
In November 2011, five friends including Hannah Williams walked out on the railroad trestle on River Road to stargaze. But the peaceful night turned deadly after an oncoming train killed Williams. <\/p>\n
She was a freshman at Liberty University. <\/p>\n
Now, three years later another student was killed on the same trestle. The accident happened Saturday taking the life of Jonathan Gregoire was a senior at Liberty University and had plans to become a missionary. <\/p>\n
A spokesperson from Norfolk Southern told us they are still figuring out if the company needs to increase any safety measures. <\/p>\n
\"I think it's too early to tell what we have been doing all along is getting the word out to Liberty University students about the dangers of trespassing on railroad tracks,\" says Robin Chapman, Spokesperson for Norfolk Southern. <\/p>\n
Some of the dangers such as injuries and deaths are posted on large trespassing signs next to the tracks. <\/p>\n
The railroad also works with an organization called Operation Lifesaver which goes to schools including Liberty University to educate students about the dangers surrounding railroad tracks. <\/p>\n
\"What we're dealing with is people who know the dangers but do it anyway and that's a real challenge,\" says Chapman. <\/p>\n
