( SMCI ) reported first-quarter net income of $20.9 million or $0.42 per share, an increase from the net income of $7.7 million, or $0.17 per share in the same period a year ago. Included in net income for the quarter is $3.0 million of stock-based compensation expense (pre-tax). Excluding items, non-GAAP net income for the first quarter was $23.2 million, or $0.46 per share. <\/p>\n
On average, four analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.38 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items. <\/p>\n
Net sales totaled $443.3 million, compared to $309.02 million, prior year. Analysts expected revenue of $418.02 million for the quarter. <\/p>\n
The company expects net sales of $440 million to $480 million for the second quarter of fiscal year 2015. The company expects non-GAAP earnings per share of approximately $0.44 to $0.50 for the second quarter. Analysts expect the company to report second-quarter earnings per share of $0.44 on revenue of $449.38 million. <\/p>\n
