Approximately 200 researchers from    across the state are expected to attend. Registration for the    summit has closed, according to UA spokesman Chris Bryant.  <\/p>\n<p>    The two-day summit is a forum meant to bring together students,    researchers and industry professionals from a range of    scientific, engineering and medical fields while showcasing the    latest findings, innovations, and uses of nanotechnology.  <\/p>\n<p>    Roughly a dozen speakers from regional universities, state and    federal agencies and the private sector are scheduled make    25-minute presentations on Oct. 23. The next day, speakers    include UA officials and representatives from the Economic    Development Partnership of Alabama and the Alabama Department    of Commerce.  <\/p>\n<p>    Themes for the sessions include nanobioscience,    nanobiotechnology, biomedical engineering and nanomedicine;    nanoegineering and nanomaterials; and collaboration, discovery    and commercialization.  <\/p>\n<p>    Andrew D. Penman, vice president of drug development for the    Southern Research Institute, will be the afternoon keynote    speaker on Oct. 23 and make a presentation titled \"Drug    Development  A Perspective on Changing Times in the Industry.\"  <\/p>\n<p>    The evening keynote speaker Oct. 23 is Richard M.
