{"id":150045,"date":"2014-10-12T09:40:23","date_gmt":"2014-10-12T13:40:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.euvolution.com\/futurist-transhuman-news-blog\/uncategorized\/local-aerospace-industry-leads-pack-for-federal-funds.php"},"modified":"2014-10-12T09:40:23","modified_gmt":"2014-10-12T13:40:23","slug":"local-aerospace-industry-leads-pack-for-federal-funds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.euvolution.com\/futurist-transhuman-news-blog\/aerospace\/local-aerospace-industry-leads-pack-for-federal-funds.php","title":{"rendered":"Local aerospace industry leads pack for federal funds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>    A total $1.3 billion in federal money is available to spend on    economic development across the nation, and a new designation    puts the Cincinnati-Dayton region at the front of the line to    receive a slice.  <\/p>\n<p>    A public-private partnership between Cincinnati and Dayton    applied earlier this year for a federal program, known as the    Investing in Manufacturing Communities Partnership, and won.  <\/p>\n<p>    The Southwestern Ohio Aerospace Region, as the collaboration is    called, was one of 12 designees named nationwide.  <\/p>\n<p>    With the new two-year designation, local organizations in the    27-county area including Northern Kentucky and Springfield get    preferential treatment when applying for government funding to    support the aerospace manufacturing industry.  <\/p>\n<p>    Millions of dollars are at stake for the local economy.  <\/p>\n<p>    By having this and getting more federal resources, were    hoping to increase the number of trained workers in the region,    which will hopefully lead to more jobs in the area, said John    Owen, research director for Dayton Development Coalition.  <\/p>\n<p>    Next steps are for local businesses, governments and    institutions to take advantage of the federally-recognized    manufacturing community status, and seek out government    funding, said Sam Stephens, senior development officer for    Cincinnati.  <\/p>\n<p>    Six priority areas have been identified for spending:    workforce, supply chain, research and innovation,    infrastructure and site development, international trade    assistance, and capital access, according to the Coalition.  <\/p>\n<p>    The joint application, a first-of-its-kind partnership between    southwest Ohios two largest cities, flaunted the regions    higher-than-national-average concentration of jobs and    businesses in the aerospace parts and products manufacturing    sector.  <\/p>\n<p>    When were looking at how the Cincinnati-Dayton region is    known nationally and internationally, this is a huge step    towards linking our aviation and aerospace manufacturing    expertise in the minds of companies, Stephens said.  <\/p>\n<p><!-- Auto Generated --><\/p>\n<p>View post: <\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.daytondailynews.com\/news\/news\/local-aerospace-industry-leads-pack-for-federal-fu\/nhgQ8\" title=\"Local aerospace industry leads pack for federal funds\">Local aerospace industry leads pack for federal funds<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> A total $1.3 billion in federal money is available to spend on economic development across the nation, and a new designation puts the Cincinnati-Dayton region at the front of the line to receive a slice.
