MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - For more than two decades, Alliance Freedom has worked on behalf of veterans providing scholarships for their children, building them homes, and sending them on much needed vacations. <\/p>\n
Literally anything that just might make their lives a little easier. <\/p>\n
Last week one local veteran from Millington got a pretty cool surprise from the organization. <\/p>\n
For the past three years in Milan, Tennessee, they have had a freedom celebration. <\/p>\n
Remembering the soldiers who did not come home <\/p>\n
\"We like to celebrate our veterans thank them and appreciate everything that they do,\" organizer Shawn Rochelle said. <\/p>\n
And those that did, like air force tech Sgt. Russell Logan, who came home. Just not the same way he left. <\/p>\n
\"I remember getting up off my back and didn't really know what was going on. I didn't feel nothing but for pressure,\" Logan said. <\/p>\n
While serving in Afghanistan in 2011, Logan stepped on a landmine there. Losing his left leg. <\/p>\n
He was forced to retire from the military in 2013. <\/p>\n
