It was a vivid portrayal of the 200 year old freedom struggle of our country by 200 kids of Sri Sivananda Balalalya. <\/p>\n
All the milestone events of the freedom movement were portrayed with lan. Sepoy mutiny, salt satyagraha, denouncing of videshi goods and patronising swadeshi goods, non-cooperative movement and finally Jawaharlal Nehrus speech of Tryst with destiny transported the audience to a different era. <\/p>\n
Interspersed with Bharathiars poems Vandhe Matharam enbom, Velli Pani Malaiyin Meethulavuvom, the novel theatre presentation, held at Sundaram Ammal Kalai Arangam at K.A.P.Viswanatham Higher Secondary School at Thillai Nagar on Saturday impacted the children and audience with a spirit and pride of being an Indian. <\/p>\n
The idea is to make this theatre presentation marking the birthday celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2 to fire the young minds with patriotic fervour which is sadly absent among the younger generation. It is also to make them proud of being an Indian said K.G.Meenakshi, Correspondent of Sri Sivananda Balalaya. <\/p>\n
Audience went into raptures when the salt satyagraha was depicted on stage. Patriotic fervour filled the minds of audience when children danced to the songs of poet Bharathi. The children sported tricolor with the slogan I am proud to be an Indian and also carried the speeches of great leaders in placards. <\/p>\n
N. Siva, Rajya Sabha MP, was the chief guest. He appreciated the children for their enthusiasm and creativity. The children said that they were very fortunate to participate in the programme and would remember the landmarks of our freedom struggle. <\/p>\n
