Workington Comets 40 Edinburgh Monarchs 50: There will be no Premier League silverware heading to west Cumbria this season after Workington Comets were brushed aside by on-form Edinburgh Monarchs. <\/p>\n

An impressive 60-34 win for Edinburgh in Scotland on Friday was quickly followed up with a classy 50-40 victory at Derwent Park the next day. <\/p>\n
Monarchs have beaten both Berwick Bandits and Comets home and away to ease their way through to the play-off grand final where they will face either Scunthorpe, Somerset or Ipswich. <\/p>\n
After Friday nights loss, Comets knew they needed to come away with three points from Saturdays fixture. <\/p>\n
However, Edinburghs superior quality proved too much for Workington, with several riders nursing niggling injuries and No1 Josh Grajczonek absent through injury. <\/p>\n
Workingtons Ricky Wells (10 points) was solid throughout the meeting and Sam Masters (12 points) was outstanding for Edinburgh. <\/p>\n
But Comets only won two races all night, which in the end cost them the tie. <\/p>\n
Workingtons night did, however, start with a bang after an impressive 5-1 in the first heat. The race had to be re-run after Craig Cook was penalised for jumping the tapes too early. <\/p>\n
