The suspect in a Sunday morning assault in Medicine Hat, which sent three people to hospital, has been arrested after stealing a vehicle in an attempt to evade police. <\/p>\n
Shortly after 4:00 a.m., police responded to a Medicine Hat residence in the 800 block of 3 St. S.E., following reports of a violent assault. Two injured people were inside the home and a third victim was located a short distance away. <\/p>\n
EMS transported the three patients to hospital. The extent of their injuries has not been released but one person required additional medical treatment and was airlifted to a Calgary area hospital. <\/p>\n
Police identified the alleged offender as 26-year-old Jacob Lucien Shevchenko. The suspect fled the scene prior to the arrival of police. <\/p>\n
At approximately 9:20 a.m., police located Shevchenko near the Medicine Hat College campus. The 26-year-old, in possession of a stolen vehicle, led police on a thirty minute chase throughout the city, which ended without incident in the Rossland area of the city. <\/p>\n
Shevchenko was arrested and remains in police custody. <\/p>\n
Police continue to investigate the matter. <\/p>\n
