A Clayton County middle school community is grieving over the death of an 8th-grader, who died after a medical emergency at school Thursday. <\/p>\n
The girl, identified as Andrea Pinson, was a student at Pointe South Middle School in Jonesboro, Channel 2 Action News reported. <\/p>\n
Staff members at the school tended to the student until an ambulance arrived, Vicki Constantinides, spokeswoman for Clayton schools, said. The girl was taken by ambulance to Southern Regional Hospital, but did not survive. No details about the type of medical emergency were released. <\/p>\n
She suffered some kind of physical ailment, Constantinides said. We dont know what at this point. All we know is she needed emergency help and thats what we got for her. <\/p>\n
A crisis team assembled at the school early Thursday afternoon. Parents were being notified by phone and letter, Constantinides said. <\/p>\n
Some students, overcome with grief, asked their parents to pick them up from school, Channel 2 reported. <\/p>\n
I was just like Mom, can you come pick me up? One of my friends passed away and I cant stand being here right now, friend Citlaly Guerrero said, with her mother by her side. <\/p>\n
