{"id":143823,"date":"2014-09-22T14:44:46","date_gmt":"2014-09-22T18:44:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.euvolution.com\/futurist-transhuman-news-blog\/uncategorized\/roger-ptak-1938-2014-physics-professor-at-bgsu-led-astronomy-department.php"},"modified":"2014-09-22T14:44:46","modified_gmt":"2014-09-22T18:44:46","slug":"roger-ptak-1938-2014-physics-professor-at-bgsu-led-astronomy-department","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.euvolution.com\/futurist-transhuman-news-blog\/astronomy\/roger-ptak-1938-2014-physics-professor-at-bgsu-led-astronomy-department.php","title":{"rendered":"Roger Ptak: 1938-2014: Physics professor at BGSU led astronomy department"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>Published: Monday, 9\/22\/2014    <\/p>\n<p>    BY JIM SIELICKI    BLADE STAFF WRITER  <\/p>\n<p>    BOWLING GREEN  Retired Bowling Green State University physics    professor Roger Ptak, who directed the university's astronomy    department and was sought after for his insights on celestial    events, died Friday in Corning, N.Y., in an accident.  <\/p>\n<p>    Mr. Ptak, 76, was struck by a vehicle outside a restaurant    where he had stopped while returning home to Northport, Maine,    from a visit in Ohio, his wife, Donna said.  <\/p>\n<p>    He joined BGSU in 1968 after teaching two years as an assistant    professor at Depauw University in Greencastle, Ind.
