We had a high-mileage week coming in, said Freedom coach Tyson Graham, whose team had 43 points to edge Brooksville Nature Coast Technical (46). Today, I kind of cut them loose. Weve had a lot of problems in the first half of races, but our 6-7 runners carried it. Our strength is our 4-8 runners.

The Patriots highest finisher was senior Luke Haara, who placed fourth in 17:46.14.

Freedom freshman Alejandro Michel placed sixth in 18:06.99. Freedom also had the 10th-12th finishers in Richard Lush (18:25.74), Raymond Urbaniak (18:29.08) and Christian Shaffer (18:34.43).

Pasco Countys lone team entry, Wesley Chapel, saw sophomore Dominic Moreno place fifth in 17:57.15.

On the girls side, Wesley Chapel junior Amber Maxwell recorded the best time of any Pasco County runner, placing fourth in 21:01.87.

    Tony Castro

    Riverview freshman records first victory

    RUSKIN The W.D.
