Workington Comets team manager Tony Jackson heaped praise on his riders after they romped to victory in their opening Premier League match of the season. <\/p>\n

Comets produced a strong team performance to beat Premier League newcomers Peterborough Panthers 52-40 at Derwent Park on Saturday. <\/p>\n
Every Comets rider rode well and picked up vital points. <\/p>\n
Number one Josh Grajczonek top-scored for Comets with 13 points from his five rides, but special praise must be given to fast-improving reserve Ashley Morris who picked up eight points from just four races. <\/p>\n
In contrast, Peterborough had three riders who scored double points, but were let down by the fact that their lower-order produced only two points between three riders. Not even the return of ex-Comet Richard Lawson to Derwent Park could dent the confidence surging through the Workington ranks. <\/p>\n
Jackson said: It was a really good team performance. Everyone chipped in with points. Peterborough is one of the fancied teams and we were a bit nervous going it this meeting, especially with Richard Lawson riding as a guest for them. <\/p>\n
It gives us something to build on. It gives the riders encouragement, management encouragement and supporters encouragement. <\/p>\n
Peterborough is a good side, so we have done well. <\/p>\n
