The last event to mark the closure of a famous Merseyside spirituality retreat centre has sold out. <\/p>\n
The 500 tickets for the Alices Woodland Easter Egg Trail at Loyola Hall Jesuit Spirituality Centre, at Rainhill, on Easter Monday, sold out within a few weeks of going on sale. <\/p>\n
Loyola Hall, a Regency- style mansion built in 1824 and run by the Jesuits for residential and day religious spirituality courses for the last 91 years, will be put up for sale after the family event. <\/p>\n
The Alice In Wonderland theme will make full use of the Halls 20 acres of gardens and woodland, with the White Rabbit greeting children at the gates, an Easter Egg hunt, croquet on the lawn and the Mad Hatter and Caterpillar telling stories in the grottoes. <\/p>\n
Money raised by the Easter Egg Hunt will be split between Willowbrook Hospice, St Helens staging the Rainhill Gala on May 26. <\/p>\n
Steve Clarke, Rainhill Gala chairman, said: Were staging the Easter Trail at Loyola Hall as we knew it was closing and this could be the last time the public can look around. <\/p>\n
We set a limit of 500 tickets but cant believe the demand which has been huge and theyve all gone within a couple of weeks. <\/p>\n
It makes a great start to the Rainhill Gala fundraising and were also holding a barn dance at Rainhill Village Hall on April 12, to raise more money. <\/p>\n
Loyola Hall was the family home of the Brethertons, who owned much of Rainhill. Devout Roman Catholics, they bequeathed the Hall to the Jesuits in 1923. <\/p>\n
