The victory was No. 411 for Babcock in his career with the Red Wings, moving him past Scotty Bowman. <\/p>\n
And Babcock could conceivably pass Jack Adams for No. 1 on the list this week. Adams heads the list with 413. <\/p>\n
Babcocks respect and admiration of Bowman is well known. Babcock believes Bowmans career record of 1,248 regular season victories will never be broken. <\/p>\n
Scotty is the greatest coach of all time in our business, said Babcock, who has 480 victories adding his victories in Anaheim. Scotty should be in a class by himself. Its not like I want to pass Scotty Bowman. <\/p>\n
But Im honored. Hes a good friend and Im glad I can talk about him. <\/p>\n
The primary reasons Bowmans record will never be touched, said Babcock, is because of Bowmans durability and the league is so different now, with the salary cap keeping organizations from becoming dynasties. <\/p>\n
The amount of wins Scotty has, its impossible, its not going to happen, Babcock said. Youre not going to coach as many Stanley Cup champions. You cant keep teams together. <\/p>\n
This particular Red Wings team is impressing Babcock with its competitiveness and determination. <\/p>\n
Ive coached some good teams here, said Babcock, who coached the Red Wings to a Stanley Cup in 2008. <\/p>\n
