Workington Comets owner Laura Morgan believes the team has built a platform for success this season after clinching the Ian Thomas Shield. <\/p>\n

Captain Rene Bach lifted the sides first silverware of the season on Sunday after Comets beat Newcastle Diamonds 77-73 on aggregate. <\/p>\n
Comets won the first leg 33-27 at Derwent Park on Saturday and a 46-44 loss in the return leg at Brough Park still saw them take the shield. <\/p>\n
Morgan said: Its a fantastic start of the season for all the boys. They have built a platform so they can continue throughout the season. <\/p>\n
When we went across to Newcastle with only six points I didnt know which way it would go. They did far better than I expected us to do. There was some gutsy riding from all of them. <\/p>\n
Comets quest for more silverware gets under way tomorrow when Glasgow Tigers visit Derwent Park in the League Cup. <\/p>\n
Workington face home and away ties against Glasgow, Edinburgh and Berwick in their group. <\/p>\n
But Morgan is confident of her sides chances ahead of Glasgows visit. <\/p>\n
