A BRISTOL man has joined the latest emergency response to flooding on the Somerset Levels. <\/p>\n
Roy Marshall from Henleaze joined a British Red Cross crew in a second 4x4 vehicle sent from the charitys international warehouse in Warmley to support with transferring people through flood water. <\/p>\n
The Landrover Defender is in addition to the 4x4 Unimog vehicle the charity dispatched last week to transport fuel and supplies through the flooded back roads to the cut-off village of Muchelney. <\/p>\n
In total the Red Cross has a team of six volunteers in three 4x4 vehicles on the ground in the Somerset Levels as part of the multi-agency response aimed at keeping residents safe. <\/p>\n
Three additional volunteers have been dispatched to assist the authorities with the setting up of a rest centre at North Petherton Bowling Club, on the edge of the Somerset Levels. <\/p>\n
More volunteers are being placed on standby to continue the response tonight and into tomorrow, with more bad weather on the way. <\/p>\n
