{"id":1063524,"date":"2013-08-07T09:44:00","date_gmt":"2013-08-07T13:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.immortalitymedicine.tv\/stem-cell-therapy\/californians-top-list-of-stem-cell-honorees.php"},"modified":"2024-08-17T20:30:16","modified_gmt":"2024-08-18T00:30:16","slug":"californians-top-list-of-stem-cell-honorees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.euvolution.com\/futurist-transhuman-news-blog\/stem-cell-therapy\/californians-top-list-of-stem-cell-honorees.php","title":{"rendered":"Californians Top List of Stem Cell Honorees"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Californians dominated <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldstemcellsummit.com\/2013-stem-cell-action-award-honorees-advancing-stem-cell-research-funding-and-advocacy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the list of those to be honored<\/a> at the <b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldstemcellsummit.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World Stem Cell Summit <\/a><\/b>coming up in San<br>Diego this December.<\/div><div><\/div><div>They include <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipscell.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fellow blogger<\/a> <b>Paul<br>Knoepfler<\/b>, a stem cell scientist at <b>UC Davis<\/b>, and <b>Roman Reed<\/b>, the San Francisco Bay Area stem cell activist and son of another stem cell advocate, <b>Don Reed<\/b>.&nbsp;Both are among the 2013 Stem Cell Action Award honorees for this<br>year.<\/div><div><\/div><div>Others include <b>Denny Sanford<\/b>, a<br>philanthropist whose name now adorns the <b>Sanford-Burnham Institute<\/b> in<br>La Jolla, and <b>Malin Burnham<\/b>, who is also linked to the institute.<br>Also being honored is <b>Mary Ann Liebert<\/b>, whose firm publishes<br>peer-reviewed journals in science and biomedical research.<\/div><div><\/div><div>Malin is a San Diego businessman who<br><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sanford-Burnham_Medical_Research_Institute\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">joined with an anonymous donor<\/a> in 1996 to contribute $10 million to<br>the <b>La Jolla Cancer Foundation<\/b>. It was renamed to reflect that<br>contribution.
