An outbreak of norovirus among staff members at Montreal's Jewish General Hospital led to the temporary closure of the neurology clinic last week, CBC has learned. <\/p>\n
About 45 employees at the hospital came down with flu-like symptoms last week after eating food from the auxiliary-run coffee shop. <\/p>\n
The coffee shop, which is run separately from the main cafeteria, serves hundreds of staff and visitors to the hospital each day. <\/p>\n
Last week, several staff members at the neurology clinic fell ill with flu-like symptoms including diarrhea, cramps, and fever. <\/p>\n
The clinic was closed for half a day on Thursday and all of Friday. <\/p>\n
\"The hospital is very concerned about the safety of its staff and of its visitors,\" said hospital spokesman Glenn Nashen. <\/p>\n
Until the infection prevention and control team determines the specific cause of the outbreak, the coffee shop will remain closed, according to hospital officials. <\/p>\n
Nashen said as far as the hospital knows, only staff at the hospital caught the virus. <\/p>\n
He expects the hospital to be back to normal by Monday. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
