Neurology professor Dr. Charles DeCarli has been named the initial chair of an endowment devoted to Alzheimer's disease research in the UC Davis Health System. <\/p>\n
He is also director of UC Davis' Alzheimer's disease center and an expert on dementias and neuroimaging, and his research has led to advances in prevention and treatment of the disease, which affects 5.4 million Americans. <\/p>\n
The $1.63 million Victor and Genevieve Orsi Endowed Chair will be used for a fellowship in behavioral neurology. <\/p>\n
Roseville resident Victor Orsi was diagnosed with Alzheimer's before his death at 88 in August 2006. Genevieve Orsi died in 2010. <\/p>\n
