Radiochemistry Ph.D. student Ingrid Lehman-Andino and two of FIUs nuclear chemistry professors are working on a solution. The researchers believe the U.S. could lessen the impact of climate change by producing nuclear power with smaller amounts of reused, short-lived radioactive waste that is less toxic than what is used now.<\/p>\n
When research led by one of the doctoral students in his lab recently landed the cover of a top journal in chemistry and toxicology, Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine Professor Barry Rosen likened it to a golfer getting a hole in one. Most researchers go an entire career without a cover, he said. Barry P. Rosen is a Distinguished Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.<\/p>\n
