{"id":1048337,"date":"2010-08-17T08:18:20","date_gmt":"2010-08-17T08:18:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.immortalitymedicine.tv\/green-solvent-metric-on-solvent-predictor\/"},"modified":"2024-08-17T17:54:53","modified_gmt":"2024-08-17T21:54:53","slug":"green-solvent-metric-on-solvent-predictor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.euvolution.com\/futurist-transhuman-news-blog\/chemistry\/green-solvent-metric-on-solvent-predictor.php","title":{"rendered":"Green Solvent Metric on Solvent Predictor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the spirit of contributing to Peter Murray-Rust's initiative to collect <a href=\"http:\/\/wwmm.ch.cam.ac.uk\/blogs\/murrayrust\/?p=2529\">Green Chemistry<\/a> information, Andrew Lang and I have added a green solvent metric for 28 of the 72 solvents we include in our <a href=\"http:\/\/usefulchem.blogspot.com\/2010\/08\/reaction-attempts-solvent-selector.html\">Solvent Selector<\/a> service.  The scale represents the combined contributions for Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) as calculated by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sust-chem.ethz.ch\/tools\/ehs\">ETH Zurich<\/a>.<\/p><p>For example consider the following <a href=\"http:\/\/showme.physics.drexel.edu\/onsc\/models\/solventselector.php?csids=70660%7C10481766\">Ugi reaction solvent selection<\/a>.  Using the default thresholds, 6 solvents are proposed and 5 have SHE values.  Assuming there are no additional selection factors, a chemist might start with ethyl acetate with a SHE value of 2.9 rather than acetonitrile with a value of 4.6.<br><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_R3jz5f_NkRo\/TGgZlqYRLQI\/AAAAAAAAA4I\/2FwUHbrCIf4\/s1600\/green1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-left:10px; padding-right: 10px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.immortalitymedicine.tv\/wp-content\/plugins\/wp-o-matic\/cache\/0e5ef_green1.png\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\"><\/a><br>Individual values of Safety, Health and Environment for each solvent are available from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sust-chem.ethz.ch\/tools\/ehs\">ETH tool<\/a>.
