She interviewed several people in the Open Science movement including <a href=\"http:\/\/bobcat.genomecenter.ucdavis.edu\/mediawiki\/index.php\/Main_Page\">Jonathan Eisen<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/stevekoch\">Steve Koch<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/openwetware.org\/wiki\/User:Anthony_Salvagno\">Anthony Salvagno<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/two.ucdavis.edu\/~cboettig\/index.html\">Carl Boettiger<\/a> and myself.<\/p><p>The article covers Open Notebook Science, Open Data and associated themes.  I think it presents a view of the most commonly discussed advantages and disadvantages very well.<\/p><p>One section was particularly relevant to an issue I recently <a href=\"http:\/\/usefulchem.blogspot.com\/2010\/04\/bipolar-electrodeposition-of-cds.html\">posted about<\/a> - (and discussed on <a href=\"http:\/\/ff.im\/ixztk\">FriendFeed<\/a>):<\/p><blockquote><p>Open Notebook Science advocates claim that being open may <em>protect<\/em>  a scientist's ideas rather than exposing them to theft. Newton's  decision to conceal his findings within an anagram made it harder for  him to prove priority over rival Gottfried Leibniz.
