News, the American Idol makeover has begun: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/422628\/jennifer-hudson-signs-on-as-american-idol-judge-plus-find-out-who-else-is-close-to-coming-aboard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jennifer Hudson is in<\/a> as a Season 13 judge.<\/p><p>The addition of the Season 3 finalist and 2006 Oscar winner - last seen on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tvfanatic.com\/shows\/smash\/episodes\/season-2\/\"><em>Smash<\/em> Season 2<\/a> (below) - is merely the first step in what many outlets are reporting will be a new judging panel, one comprised entirely of <em>Idol<\/em> alums.<\/p><p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tvfanatic.com\/gallery\/jennifer-hudson-on-smash\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.immortalitymedicine.tv\/wp-content\/plugins\/wp-o-matic\/cache\/2bc6d85156_jennifer-hudson-on-smash-490x326.jpg\" width=\"490\" alt=\"Jennifer Hudson on Smash\" height=\"326\" style=\"padding-left:10px; padding-right: 10px;\"><\/a><\/p><p>E! also says Kelly Clarkson is very close to a deal and the third spot will fall to either Clay Aiken or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/stars\/adam-lambert\/\">Adam Lambert<\/a>.<\/p><p>In light of Season 12's dismal ratings, it certainly makes sense that producers would shake things up.
